CAN09: Contemporary Art Norwich 09

The East of England shakes up the visual art world this summer with an exhilarating range of international artists from Louise Bourgeois and Marc Quinn to Mariano Pensotti and Matthew Darbyshire, in a celebration of contemporary visual art.

Contemporary Art Norwich (CAN09), delivered for the first time by Norfolk & Norwich Festival, will stage exhibitions, performances, residencies, commissions, site specific, large-scale live art events and urban interventions.

CAN09 launches on 11 July with the opening of the highly acclaimed EASTinternational 2009 and runs throughout the summer bringing over 100 artists from across Europe and the world to Norwich.:

EASTinternational at Norwich Gallery and Norwich School of Art & Design, 2 July - 20 August: 26 artists from Europe, Africa, Asia, America and the Middle East have made work connecting the extreme realities that affect us all: wars, holocaust, detention, politicians, manifestos, torture, greed, ageing and deprived youth. www.norwichgallery.co.uk

Out There: Major artists from different cultures around the world will come to  the University of East Anglia  to create art in the university parkland for an open-air exhibition. Artists from Poland, Japan, Brazil, Nigeria, India, Australia and the UK will each be in residence for three weeks, transforming a site in the parkland around the gallery. The works will be sited in some of the most beautiful parts of UEA’s grounds, in the woods and close to the lake. 3 July to 29 August. www.scva.ac.uk

  Getting to Norwich (가는 방법)

By road
Major trunk roads to the Norwich area are the M11, A11, A12, A140 (from London, the South, the ferry ports and the Channel Tunnel) and the A14, A47, A1/M1 (from the North and West). By train
Norwich railway station is located in central Norwich, a 5-minute walk from the city centre. Train operator National Express runs trains to Norwich from London’s Liverpool Street station every 30 minutes during the day. The journey time is approximately 1 hour 50 minutes.

National Express coaches travel to Norwich from London and other major cities several times daily. The London to Norwich journey time is around 3 hours. National Express links the main London airports to Norwich with a regular direct service – up to 10 times a day from Stansted, Heathrow and Gatwick airports.
